Through the South Texas Writing Project, we were able to engage in a summer camp that allowed us to use our journalistic abilities and teach younger students. For a single week, we were able to take already great writers, and modify their skills to fit the journalistic style.
During the course of a full week, Texas A & M International University Student Newspaper, The Bridge, along with two communication professors offered a summer camp to train the next generation of journalists and photojournalists. The camp, known as the Supermedia Patrol Camp, was the first newspaper camp for the future journalists and photographers of Laredo.
On July 13, 2010, Bridge journalists of A&M International University interviewed Harmony, an earth-loving, tree hugger. Harmony lives in a tree to relieve the stresses of human society. Harmony became an earth lover when she saw what materialism did to people.
In 2008, blonde haired hit sensation, Lady Gaga, became a star. She started to sing and dance in small clubs around New York. "I love to dance and sing, and I thought that clubs around town was a great start to being famous," she said. Now Gaga is one of the most influential people in the world.
Nisha Lakhiani is an incoming 7th grader at the Harmony Science Academy. She has been attending Harmony for a year now. "I love it", says Nisha but, that was not always the case.
Dr. Francis Rhodes was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on April 21, 1943. At the age of five she learned to read. "I haven't been able to put books down since", said Dr. Rhodes.
During the month of July, Texas A & M International University student newspaper, The Bridge, hosted the "Super Hero" summer camp. The one week camp consisted of writing news stories and taking photographs. I was one of the attendees at the camp.
The Department of Language and Literature main office located in Pellegrino Hall 314 is being painted. Its walls used to be gray blue, but not any more. Now, those walls are being painted with the TAMIU beige tone. The new tone of paint is enhancing the office environment completely by providing a warm atmosphere.
