Fellow students, I hope your school year is off to a great start. My name is Dora Trujillo and I am the newly appointed College of Arts and Sciences Senator for your Student Government. I join Ramon Cordova and Cynthia Gallardo as your representatives.
While in office I plan to introduce topics to my fellow Senators and the entire Student Government that you, the students of the College of Arts and Sciences, my peers suggest to me.
To let you know a little about me, I am a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Urban Studies. As a Political Science major, I understand the importance of the trust placed in all representatives. Therefore, I encourage you to make your opinions and ideas for improving our University known. This year, it is easier than ever to let us know – anything. Visit our website (www.tamiusg.com) for our contact information or stop by our office (SC 224).
Personally, I have loved my experience over my past three years at TAMIU and would like the opportunity to help you do the same. To our new class, welcome, take advantage of the unique opportunities only TAMIU can offer. From here, you really can end up anywhere – and you can be anything. To our returning classes, keep up the good work. To everyone, get involved in the University in any way you can because you may find experiences gained by working for a cause or collaborating with others in an organization useful in the future.
In addition, I would like to invite each and every one of you to the Student Government Senatorial meetings held every Wednesday from 12:00PM – 1:00PM in PH 112. These meetings are very important because this is where University issues are voted on by me and our fellow Senators. If you are present at these meetings, then you, the students, can provide us with direct input on the issues included on the agenda that day. This will help us decide our votes as we should – with your opinions in mind.
I promise always to keep my college’s interests at heart while making every decision as your Senator.
Finally, I would like to thank The Bridge for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself to you in this issue.
Thank you all for you attention and let’s work together to make this school year a memorable one.
Thank you,
Student Senator Dora Trujillo,
Representing the College of Arts and Sciences
