After being disappointed by season two of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, a desperate audience can only hope to see the show resemble season one.
Marc Cherry had a brilliant thing when he first introduced us to the addictive show, but since the end of last season, many viewers (like myself) can’t help but fear a repeat of dreaded season two (not all of it was bad).
Now that the looney (not to mention creepy) characters seem to have moved out of Wisteria Lane, the writers better come up with story lines that will be more fitting of our five favorite ladies.
We all love Alfre Woodward, but what was the deal with Betty Applewhite and her two strange sons? Most of us probably were expecting Alfre’s character to come in and add to the show’s great story (season one), but instead we were left to wonder what purpose (other than confuse us) did the writers have for her? Not that having someone locked up in your basement is not interesting, but come on who came up with that?
Moving on to Bree Van de Kamp’s (Marcia Cross) teenage son; the kid seems to never be content with anything his mother does and the writers have him doing so many things that not even the most demented kids would do to their parents. Andrew Van de Kamp (Shawn Pyfrom) is now missing somewhere with most of us wondering what is going to be his next move.
The show is far from boring, but without Gabrielle (Eva Longoria), Edie (Nicollette Sheridan) and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) the show would have for sure ended up being pulled, leaving us without much to do on a Sunday night.
So for now we should all stay tuned and hope that Wisteria Lane will once more come alive with stories that will drive us to the remote control every Sunday. Hopefully the best is yet to come.
