
Sept. 18 – Texas A&M International University split two matches against Heartland Conference opponent Dallas Baptist over the weekend, winning in four games on Friday before being swept in three games on Saturday. The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for the Dustdevils.
Senior Juliana Gusmao recorded double-figure kill and dig totals in both matches. She finished with 18 kills and 22 digs in Friday’s win, both numbers were her second-best efforts of the season in those categories.
Sept. 14 – Texas A&M International swept Huston-Tillotson in three games (30-12, 30-16, 30-17) on Wednesday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The win closed out a 4-0 homestand for the Dustdevils.
TAMIU recorded a .376 hitting percentage for the match, with seniors Eliza Cezario (11 kills) and Sivonney Molina (10 kills) leading the hit parade. Freshman Genevieve Treviño finished with team-high totals in digs (12) and service aces (5) while junior Mary Koch contributed a team-high 35 assists.
Sept. 12 – Texas A&M International University freshman Genevieve Treviño has been named Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 4-10. She averaged 4.5 digs per game (54 total) and recorded only two reception errors on 39 attempts to help lead the Dustdevils to a 3-0 week, including a four-game win over NCAA Division I opponent UT-Pan American.
Treviño is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio. She was named Lee’s female Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Sept. 11- Texas A&M International University won two matches on Saturday afternoon at the Kinesiology and Convocation Building on campus. TAMIU stretched its winning streak to three with a sweep over Schreiner (30-28, 30-16, 30-14) and a four-game win over UT-Brownsville (30-21, 15-30, 30-19, 30-13).
