Dustdevils stormed OPSU Lady Aggies

Two days after a successful win over St. Mary’s, the Lady Dustdevil’s cleaned house Oct. 6 and 7 with two wins (3-0) over the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Lady Aggies.

The Dustdevil’s showed no sign of slowing down their four game winning streak quickly sending the OPSU Aggies back home without a single game victory.

The team has been playing a very good season with outstanding teamwork on the court. Anytime you see the ball in the air about to make its way over to the Dustdevil side of the court, the ladies already have a plan of action and it is a matter of seconds before it is dinked or aced back.

Here are some game highlights (courtesy of Mr. Dan Lathey and the Department of Athletics):

Oct. 10 – Texas A&M International extended its winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 sweep of Heartland Conference opponent Incarnate Word on Tuesday night in San Antonio. The Dustdevils defeated the Cardinals 30-22, 32-30, 30-25.

Oct. 7 – Senior Sivonney Molina and junior Mary Koch came off the bench to lead the Dustdevils. Molina finished with 14 kills and eight digs while Koch contributed 24 assists and four digs. Sophomore Michelle Castaneda notched 13 kills and freshman Clovershea McGill finished with a team-high five blocks.

TAMIU (17-4 overall) now has a 6-2 record against Heartland Conference competition this season. The Dustdevils have won 11 of their last 13 matches, with seven of the 11 wins accomplished in three-game sweeps.
