The second annual AutMus Festival brought in music lovers from all areas of South Texas.
AutMus’, put together by the TAMIU Alumni Association, main sponsors for the event included Ford, Miller Lite, BMP Radio and Sames Motors.
Families crowded around the inflatable slides and other child luring entertainment made available at the event.
“It is a place you can come to with your family and friends. There are a lot of kids that are not able to go to college and this is a great way to help out. For us to have an opportunity to have bands come in from places like California is great,” said Norma Canno, Laredo native.
Big name bands were brought in from across Texas and as far as California. Among the big names were Tejano group Costumbre and GRAMMY® Award winning Ozomatli from Los Angeles. Music lovers crowded both stages and even got a chance to have a photo taken with their favorite band of the night.
“This event had a great turnout, this is something that Laredo has needed for a while. You want to get as much money raised for education as possible because there is never enough money for education…this is a jewel that hasn’t completely been seen by the public and in a couple of years it is going to get even bigger!” said Roberto Benavides.
“It is awesome, it took a while to pick up but everyone seems to be right on target…enjoying it to the max! There are a lot more families showing up…and they are enjoying themselves.” said Patricia McBain, director of Alumni Relations.
AutMus Fest proceeds go towards scholarships for the students of TAMIU.
