Dustdevils lose against Lincoln U.

After a tough win over Newman University, the men’s basketball team lost against Lincoln University 71-62 on Saturday, Feb. 2.Tip-off occurred at 2 p.m., and Dustdevil Chris Swan hit the first jumper of the game for a quick 2-0 lead over the Blue Tigers.However, Lincoln responded with a 6-0 run at the 2:31 mark to take a commanding 4-14 lead.The Dustdevils failed to take a lead and finished the first half trailing by eight points.Lincoln stayed ahead throughout the second half, but the Dustdevils made a run with only 2:26 left on the clock, closing the gap to 60-63 with a lay-up by Sean Tucker.With the time winding down, the Blue Tigers responded with a 5-0 run for a 60-68 lead.The Dustdevils scored one more basket before the end of the game.Ignacio Garcia led the team with 19 points, tying his season high.. Tucker contributed 14 points and nine rebounds while Swan had eight points and 10 rebounds.The Blue Tigers had three players in double digits: Ralph Mata, Ryan Spearman, and Jared Boone, who scored 19, 18, and 13 points respectively.As of presstime, the Dustdevils hold a 4-4 record in Heartland Conference play and 7-11 overall.
