Nuevo Laredo hosts rock concert: fans go wild

On Sept. 6, five Spanish rock bands shared one stage and gave Laredo the most flawless and unforgettable concert of the year. The 212 Concert was organized by 94.1 radio station RMX from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.None of that reggaeton crap or romantic ballads: instead, pure, hardcore rock nearly tore down the walls of Las Cananas Revolution Bar. Arian, Luis, Carlos, Yunnel and Olaguivel make up Mecanica Inflexible, a band from Nuevo Laredo which ignited the concert shortly after 9:30 p.m. Playing five of their original songs from their CD Sonrisas Adulteradas, the band pumped up the audience. Thermo was the next group to perform. Originating in Guadalajara, Jalisco, this five-member band has been around for over ten years. Although they are well-known locally, they are still emerging onto the national scene. Playing for 30 minutes with songs like “Control Control,” “Bajo el Control del Radar,” and “Arde en Mi,” Thermo’s intense style made many fans get off their seats and rock on. Many girls also fell head over heels for some of the band members. By the time members of La Gusana Ciega prepared themselves onstage, the club was packed with fans craving for more. Together since the late 80’s, this was one of the most anticipated bands of the night. Daniel, Herman, Jorge, and Luis gave a scandalous performance. Ending their presentation with one of their hit songs, “Tornasol,” fans needed more to be satisfied. With the next act, Division Minuscula from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, the audience left the back of the club to be as close as possible to the stage. Being the youngest band among the others, they are rapidly climbing up the charts with three CD’s now released. Their punk rock alternative sounds raised the concert to another level that Saturday night. With “Sonare,” the second single from their second album, everyone sang at their top of their lungs. While the last band prepared onstage, other members from the previous bands mingled with the crowd, geting drinks, taking pictures, and signing autographs. At around 1:30 a.m., Jumbo, the most renowned band of the lineup, appeared. “Rockstar” was the first song they played. They performed nine songs in an hour, among them their new single “Y por Ahora.” Jumbo, which originated from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, has been one of the top-selling Mexican bands of all time. Fans literally went crazy with every song they played, especially with “Siento Que,” a single originally released back in 1999. Ending around 2:30 a.m., the concert left the audience drained but with ecstatic memories. This five-band rock concert cannot be compared to any other show thus far.
