Promoters bring up-and-coming rock bands to Laredo

The entertainment business can either make or break a band, but under_score entertainment is willing to help with concert promotions, band booking, and tour scheduling. They are just the right promoters to make the lives of rock bands a little less hectic. “What we are trying to do is bring a lot of signed bands, but lesser known,” says Carlos “Gummi” Delgadillo, president and agent of under_score entertainment. “You don’t get these types of concerts here in Laredo. You either get a big show or Spanish music, but as far as rock, it’s not very common.”Under_score entertainment began in May 2007 with what was known as the Gummi Festival, an all-day event in which 13 bands played. Since then, Gummi has been speaking to promoters, booking agents, and bands in order to bring shows and concerts to Laredo.Gummi prefers out-of-town bands that are on the brink of success. The shows will be economical but still worth our while. Booking bands that are listener-friendly but still hard rock is also preferable. The target audience for shows is between 18-34 years old.”If I see bands that are good, I’ll talk to them and try to get connections to get them down,” Gummi says. Some bands that have already performed at Average Joe’s-thanks to under_score entertainment-are Girl in a Coma, Structure, and By All Means Necessary. Along with other promoters, they gig the band for three shows in five days, usually in San Antonio, Laredo, and McAllen. “It benefits them [the bands]. You can route them that way. It makes [the gigs] worth the while, especially now with gas,” says Gummi.Gummi is now in the process of doing a summer festival such as the WBCA or the Autmust festival. It will occur sometime in June or July of 2009. Under_score entertainment is ready to keep Laredo on its toes with every band performing. Though understanding the city’s lack of rock music, this business is ready to blow our minds with every exhilarating show. The following are upcoming shows in Laredo which all take place at Average Joe’s: Von Army; Oct. 17 at 9:00 p.m.; Adrain And The Sickness, Nov. 8 at 11:00 p.m.; and Glass Intrepid & Seven Perfect, Nov. 14 at 10:00 p.m. For more shows or information on under_score entertainment, contact Gummi at gummifest@gmail.com or visit their website www.myspace.com/ under_scoreentertainment.com
