Following the 2009 honor cord and graduate hooding ceremony, over 200 family members gathered at the Student Center Foyer for a reception. The reception was held on December 10 at the Student Center Ballroom. Graduating students from the College of Arts and Sciences were awarded for their summa cum laude, magna cum laude, or cum laude statuses. The honor didn’t just fall on the students, but their supporters were glowing as well. “I was a mother. I had two jobs. I raised them to know that education was very important. That’s what I instilled in her, that education was the most important thing to accomplish,” said proud mother Cynthia Cockburn of her graduating daughter, Catherine Cockburn. Graduates seemed to be happy to be receiving their honors and looked forward to what is in store for their futures.
