On Thursday, Feb. 4, Charles Holt performed at Texas A&M International University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts to a full audience in celebration of Black History Month.
An actor, singer, writer, inspirational speaker and entrepreneur, Mr. Holt, “has the gift of connecting with people.”
Charles Holt has embarked on a journey that has taken him from an aspiring professional football player to the business world and eventually to where he is today- a multi-talented artist.
Holt, who has starred in many theatrical productions such as “Smokey Joe’s Café,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and even the Tony Award winning Broadway production of “The Lion King”, gave a breathtaking performance ___ of everything from jazz, love songs, and even his own personal twist to “America the Beautiful.” He was the first African-American to play the role of “Rocky” in the European tour of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” He also has guest-starring and lead roles in “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “All My Children”, the award-winning independent film “Anne B. Real”, and the thought-provoking comedy “Ed’s Trip.”

I could never stick to one thing because I enjoy seeing new faces and interacting with others,” said Holt during the question and answer session after the concert.
Cindy Espinoza, biology major at TAMIU, was hypnotized with Holt’s ability to connect with the audience as he gave them a story filled with music.
“I really felt as though Holt took us to a different world, one filled with harmony, tranquility, and peace. I felt a sense of inner peace within myself. When it was over, it was back to reality,” said Espinoza.
For the past eight seasons he has received national acclaim and rave reviews for his 20-character portrayal and performance of his one-man stage play, “Black Boy”, based on the life of noted author Richard Wright. He has entertained and enlightened sold-out audiences on some of the country’s most prestigious college and university campuses and top national venues, including The John F. Kennedy Center and Rikers Island Correctional Facility.
His debut album, “I Am” features an array of eclectic jazz and love songs which is sure to appeal to everyone’s taste. He also has an autobiographical book entitled, “The Voice that Matters.”
