With Open Eyes

I decided to do my photo essay on underwater pictures of me and my friends. I love swimming and hanging out with my friends. I think it’s great to get to see another side of my friends when I go swimming with them. I feel they are more careless and it’s easy for me to open up more in front of them. Water has always been a place for me to relax and just have fun. It’s even easier with my friends. We get to let go and leave our lives behind while we enter this underwater world and explore with open eyes.

When I was nine years old, I moved into a new house. Our backyard was big enough for a pool, so that’s what we got. My brother and sister didn’t go swimming often, only when we had parties and friends would come, but I would go swimming almost everyday.
When I take underwater photos of people, their expression is always happy, so I know that they are having fun.

Taking pictures is an art to me, taking underwater pictures is a beauty. It’s hard to take pictures underwater because right when your about to take a picture, you start floating to the top and miss your shot. Every time I have to take pictures of someone when they ask me to, I feel like I have to try my best not to mess anything up, it is their picture after all.

When I’m underwater, I feel like I’m in my own world. I can’t hear anything else but the pounding in my ears as I go deeper into the water. Getting to share the experience with my friends and seeing them smile as we flip or do tricks underwater is amazing. My friend always tells me to invite her whenever I fell like going swimming because she has so much fun. I hope I can open up to more great experiences every day with open eyes.
