I know most of you have looked at the iPhone 4 and wished that you could shell out the AT&T fees and have the features everybody is talking about. Well your in luck because Apple has just announced their annual refresh to the iPod devices and the iPod Touch seems to have given iPhone 4 users a run for their money.
The new iPod Touch brings the FaceTime (Video Calling) feature that up until now was only available if you were on AT&T and using an iPhone 4. Now users are able to initate video calls on their iPod Touch by connecting to a local Wi-Fi hotspot and entering the recipents e-mail address. This lets users get the same experience as their iPhone 4 counterparts. I myself have used an iPod Touch and was blown away by the Retina screen that has been added to this being the fourth generation of the popular apple product. Apple has taken users feedback seriously and many are praising this generation as the best touch screen mp3 player on the market.
The new iPod Nano took a step back in this reporter’s opinion by swapping out their click wheel for a small square touch screen. Many have question apples motives for giving a swift kick to their beloved click wheel. Many in the fitness world have given negative reviews as the device is hard to operate without its clickwheel and small touch screen. This reporter was able to test one for the course of twenty four hours and was not impressed with battery life and overall ease of the touchscreen interface. Only time will tell if this will be a hit or miss for the Cupertino company that has revolutionized portable audio around the world.
The iPod Touch comes in three varieties (16, 32, 64GB), while the iPod Nano comes in two varieties (8, 16GB). This reporter encourages all if you want an all around mp3 player for your workouts, your walks in the park or your cruise session with friends the iPod Touch is your best bet.
