It was a breezy, sunny day, and what better way for Dustdevils to enjoy the October weather, with an “educational” taco. This being the third year active, The Teacher’s Club Association held a fajita taco sale on Oct. 14, on the grounds in front of Killam Library at Texas A&M International University. The fundraiser was held to help raise funds for their spring goal, to bring in a speaker and address issues in class discipline.
Alicia Garcia, President of the Teacher´s Club states that the age and gender of the speaker are not yet confirmed, for the organization has to raise funds and contact an expert spokesperson who will speak about certain disciplinary issues in certain grade levels.
Aramark provided a total of one hundred tacos. As for the other condiments, members of the club and other organizations, kindly donated the lemons, salsas, chips, water, and sodas. The tacos were sold by combos, one taco, a bag of chips, and refreshment for the price of five dollars. The price of one taco ranged for the price of two dollars. There was no set goal range, but the members were looking forward to pushing on the sell of combos to end their day with a total of $500 dollars.
The Teacher´s Club will participate in a non-fundraising booth at Octoberfest. The idea of the booth is still in the works, but it will be something for the children to enjoy, Halloween style.
