World Series Game 3

After two games played in San Francisco, the series now moved to Detroit where the Tigers would count on home field advantage to try to and get back in it.  The Tigers had Anibal Sanchez as the starter, while the Giants had Ryan Vogelsong as their game 3 starter.

On the top of the 2nd inning, with a runner on third base, outfielder Gregor Blanco hit a shot of the wall and made it standing to third with an RBI triple giving the Giants an early 1-0 lead.  A couple of batters later, Blanco would come in to score on an RBI single by Brandon Crawford to make it a 2-0 Giants lead.

The Tigers only threat came on the bottom of the 5th inning as they had the bases loaded with only one out.  Vogelsong was able to get out of the jam as he struck out Quintin Berry and got Triple Crown winner, Miguel Cabrera to pop out to end the inning.

The pitching trio of Vogelsong, Tim Lincecum and Sergio Romo proved to be too much for the Tigers’ offense as they completed the shutout and gave the Giants a commanding 3-0 lead.  The win put the Giants one game away from winning their 2nd World Series championship in the last three years.
