Relationships after graduation

Graduation is upon us and one popular question that comes to mind is, “so I graduated, now what?” Many undergraduate and graduate students experience overwhelming situations once they achieve their degrees. Primarily, the students who are in relationships with significant others question themselves as to what their relationship is leading to. Karen De La Rosa, an undergraduate student at Texas A&M International University, who is graduating Spring 2014 gave The Bridge the scoop on her relationship with her boyfriend, Patric Herren.

De La Rosa is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Management. She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts. Herren has a BBA with a concentration in Business as well as an MBA in Finance. He came into De La Rosa’s life during the spring semester of 2013. She automatically thought he was very charming, but surprise, surprise he wasn’t from Laredo. He was an international student doing study abroad in the Gateway City from Switzerland. Upon completion of his study abroad semester, De La Rosa and Herren were officially a couple. “No, I never had doubts. When you love someone, distance doesn’t exist.”, stated De La Rosa when asked if she feared their relationship wouldn’t work due to distance. They’ve taken several trips together such as: Cancun, Corpus Christi, Germany, San Antonio, and Switzerland, of course! When asked how often her and Herren see each other she stated, “We see each other in person every four months, but we skype daily.”

Herren will be returning to Laredo this month to see his beloved partner graduate. Personally, the bond, connection, and love I’ve seen between Herren and De La Rosa shows a very promising future for the couple.
