Sunny set beach side views to dry humid mesquite field views. That pretty much sums up the drastic move Ashley Hight faced when moving to Laredo, Texas from San Diego, California. Hight is a junior at Texas A&M International University. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

Hight starts her journey at TAMIU as part of the athletic program. She is a proud member of the highly respected Dustdevil softball team. Hight is no stranger to the sport having played softball since she was just a little girl. She was recruited to TAMIU and offered a scholarship to play with the softball team for 2014-2015 academic year. When asked why she chose TAMIU she noted, "I fell in love with Texan people. Everyone is so nice. I had originally attended Frank Phillips College which is located in Borger, Texas. When I was offered the opportunity to play for TAMIU, I quickly said yes!"

Hight is excited to continue her journey as a Dustdevil. Hight noted the following on her experience thus far at TAMIU, "The people at TAMIU are very welcoming. They have definitely made me feel at home. This is my home away from home. Student life on campus is amazing. There are weekly activities on campus to keep one busy. I try to attend to as much as I can when I'm not busy with softball practice." Hight looks forward to her journey at TAMIU and is looking forward to succeeding this softball season with her teammates in bringing a championship to TAMIU.
