Laredo’s Haunted Heritage Thrills Audiences

As Karen and I started filming around the museum, we noticed that the freshly charged camera completely ran out of battery. The screen read ‘change battery pack’ and we realized that something did not want to get caught or seen on tape. As we walked about the historical house, Karen and I realized that we were in store for some scary fun. The Border Heritage Museum has been recently playing house to the many ghosts and spirits of Laredo. As we entered the museum, we were greeted by the Chupacabras and photograph lined walls that depict the various haunted locations in Laredo. At either corner of the house, are models of the aliens that once landed near Laredo and a lifelike statue of La Llorona. After a tour of the museum, Karen and I then boarded the bus which took us to every haunted place around the downtown area where Rick Villarreal, the tour guide, told us the stories behind every haunted building. We visited the cemetery beneath the old San Agustin School, La Posada, El Rincon del Diablo, the LCC dorm rooms and even the Fort Macintosh Cemetery. During the tour we saw black angel figurines, old regime homes and even the nun that haunts La Posada. After the tour, we sat down to watch a movie starring El Santo en el Museo de Cera, while drinking hot chocolate and eating doughnuts. The night was young but was full of local spirits looking for their next unsuspecting victims to scare. Karen and I enjoyed the great hospitality and all the myths and legends that surround our hometown. The Haunted Heritage – Myths and Legends of Laredo is sponsored by the Webb County Heritage Foundation which suspects that this attraction will thrill anyone who wishes to endure a tour of fear and mystery.
