I like it on…

October 1, 2010 marked the beginning of the month long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. This campaign serves to raise awareness on the effects that breast cancer has on women and their loved ones. Most importantly, it encourages women to become more self- aware about the precautions they must take, in order to detect this type of cancer in its early stages.

Breast cancer is among the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. According to the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas, breast cancer killed an average of 2,524 Texans annually from 2002–2006. The National Breast Cancer Awareness month program encourages women to perform regular self breast exams or have a mammogram exam. This type of exam is non-invasive. According to the Radiology Information Organization, a mammogram is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dosex-raysystem to examine breasts.

Social networking sites, such as Facebook are also doing their part in raising awareness. Status updates like “I like it on the floor” or “I like it on the couch,” are not revealing where female users like to have sex, but where they keep their purses. This is all in support of breast cancer awareness month. The idea behind these sexy updates is to encourage women and men to think about breast cancer, according to Time magazine. If all else fails stick to wearing a classic pink ribbon to show your support in raising awareness on the severity of breast cancer.
