Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) wants all current and future students to know the Veterans Affairs office can help any student veteran or dependent transition into college. The office located in the University Success center room 121K is coordinated by Mr. Eric Aguilar. Any student can stop by for a discussion on benefits offered to veterans, or even just a pamphlet to take home. The office is dedicated to serving those who have served in our armed forces. Mr. Aguilar has also been working hard on motivating enough students to start a veteran's organization.

Many colleges throughout the United States have Veterans organizations that seek to help veterans succeed after the military, and to contribute to society in a meaningful way. This is why Mr. Aguilar feels we need organization to help the veterans of TAMIU. A Veterans Organization would also aid any student veteran or dependent seeking to unite and help each other learn and grow throughout their college experience. You do not have to be a veteran to want to participate. The office of Student Affairs can help any student that wants more information on the requirements on starting an organization.

The Veteran's affairs office and website offers many ways to help veterans including information on the Hazelwood Act, and Montgomery G.I. bill. Mr. Aguilar can also assist you with registration and veterans verification. All documentation needed for your benefits and school needs can be found in the registrar's office or outside of the Veterans Affairs office. Many features like an academic calendar, Uconnect help, and registration can be found on the veterans affairs homepage at https://www.tamiu.edu/affairs/registrar/veterans.shtml .

The Veterans Affairs office and the Veterans organization could work together to ensure every student veteran has the best possible college experience he/she can. The only way that can happen is if students come together and start an organization.
