If you haven’t attended to any musical concert, you have missed of local and international talent showcased at the Texas A&M International University. This past Tuesday, Nov. 13, piano and string students showcased at the Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Admission was free and open to the public.
Family, professors, and friends attended in support of TAMIU talent. In past years the concert used to be only piano and violin, but this year cello was added to the program. Dr. Yu-Mei Huang’s upper string upper students and Dr. Friedrich Gechter’s piano major students performed for about two hours. The applause of the audience demonstrated the excitement for this music major students who performed one or two melodies in either the piano, violin, or cello. Photo and video cameras were ready to capture this important moment in the semester.
About 16 students performed recognized melodies such as Tango, Czardas, The Banjo Player, Tambourine Chinois, amongst many others. The musicians have been preparing for months and have memorized this melodies. Many pianist did not used notes and that was very amazing, it showed the effort they put to this concert.
Throughout the semester music major students perform as solos or accompanied, but all of them showing their skills and passion for the music. More concerts will be happening on the month of November and December, such as Steinway Series, Guitarras de Navidad, and the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra. All the public is invited and most of these concerts are free and open to the public.
