TAMIU Vocal Midterm Recital

On Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 3 p.m. Texas A&M International University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall will host its Voice Studio Midterm Recital. This event will be free and open to the public.

The event will showcase 15 students that will perform one or two of their semester pieces.  The program will range from art songs and opera/oratorio arias in a variety of languages. Dr. Friedrich Gechter, associate professor of music and piano, will accompany on piano.

“The Voice Studio Midterm is an opportunity for our applied voice students, many who are music majors with voice as their principal instrument, to showcase some of their semester repertoire to the public,” explained Dana Crabtree, instructor of music and voice.

The students have been enrolled in applied lessons every semester. They have been working toward their final degree requirement of presenting an entire hour-long solo recital.

“We want to encourage the Laredo and TAMIU communities to come out and hear what talented students we have in our voice program. This is the next generation of opera and musical theater singers and music educators and many of them are from Laredo. This is something to celebrate,” added Crabtree.
