Lights, camera, runway, action! Wednesday, March 31 kick-offs of the one month long competition of Housings Next Top Model.
The competition will take place every Wednesday night at the Residential Learning Community (RLC) and/or University Village.
With a whopping 40 people signed up, both male and female, for the event, the RLC is expecting a good turnout for this years show.
“Housings Next Top Model is another way in which the Housing and Residence Life Office attempts to give residents more than just a place to stay, but create a college experience,” explained Housing Next Top Model Host and Resident Assistant, Luis Stagg.
The competition consists of two different categories: challenges and runway. The challenges are based off of the competitor’s photographs. Whether or not they portray that certain aspect the judges have asked of them will determine if they are cut or still in the running for the secret grand prize. Runway is a chance for the competitor to strut their stuff and wow the judges with their confidence and pizazz.
A professional photographer is being hired this year to photograph the participants, which is a great advantage for those who have never been in front of a camera or are camera shy. The photographer will be able to guide the competitor and make he/she feel confident when posing for the camera.
Depending on the weather, the shows will be held either inside or outside. The RLC encourages anyone interested, residents and non-residents, to come watch and support those who are competing in the show.
“This competition will inspire non-residents to come and see what on-campus housing has to offer,” said Stagg.
The contest will toughen with a weekly guest judge and cutthroat double eliminations.
There will be a meeting prior to the first day of the competition to discuss important matters with those who are participating.
While all students have different schedules, unable to watch every show, the grand finale will take place April 28.
