A.R. Sanchez School of Business and College of Education Commencement Ceremony

The investment of hard work, effort and dedication was visible when Texas A&M International University held their Commencement exercises. The morning of December 17, 2011 the A. R. Sanchez, Jr School of Business and the College of Education held their Commencement exercises. The event was hosted at TAMIU's Kinesiology Convocation Building. An estimated 320 students participated in the exercises that morning, receiving either their undergraduate or graduate degree. The ceremony began with the Fanfare and Processional by the TAMIU Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Humberto R. Gonzalez.

Dr. Pablo Arenaz, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave the Opening Declaration followed by the Presentation of Colors by the TAMIU ROTC, lead by Captain Marivel Sanson. After the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem was sung by TAMIU students Marisol Munoz and Joel Bazan-Gomez. Graduates and those in attendance had the opportunity to hear words of encouragement from the Distinguished Student Scholars. The Distinguished Scholar speakers consisted of Elena A. Solano, Marketing graduate and Claudia S. Vela, Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual Education graduate.

After Dr. Pablo Arenaz introduced the Instructional Technology Excellence Award the Authorization to Confer Degrees conducted by Greg Anderson, Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer for the Texas A&M University System. The authorization was followed by the Certification of Candidates for Degree performed by Dr. Pablo Arenaz, the Conferring of Degrees by the President of TAMIU, Dr. Ray Keck III. Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ms. Mary Treviño, read the Presentation of Candidates for Degree.

After the students were presented as Candidates for Degree, Marisol Muńoz and Joel Bazán-Gómez sang the Alma Mater. Accompanying them were the graduates, administration, faculty, staff, and guests in attendance. Triana Gonzalez, President of the Student Government Association, then recited the Prayer of Gratitude. Closing declarations were then given by Dr. Arenaz, followed by the recessional march.
