Workshop for Students
On November 3, at 1:00 pm, Texas A&M International University held a workshop event called "Money for the Holidays". This workshop consisted in giving students work tips such as how to dress, how they should behave in an interview, and what should they say.
Laura Martinez, Director of Relations of Career Services commented about this workshop. "This workshop is to guide students that are interested in find a job in holiday's season. This workshop was organized by the Office of Career Services and this is the second time we are doing this event. We had received good comments from student's last year," said Martinez.
Juan Martinez was one of the students that registered for this event and he talked a little bit about this workshop. "This workshop was a great opportunity for me because I am currently looking for a job and I want to know how I should dress and what I have to say. I really loved it," said Martinez.
Cassandra Lopez was another of the students that registered for this event and she shared her opinion about this event. "It is the first time I heard about this event and I think was a good opportunity for me to know more about what I should do when I am looking for a job, you know all that stuff," said Lopez.
By showing a Power Point presentation, students had the opportunity to know more about these tips by giving them some details and recommendations that Mrs. Martinez shared with them once they are having a job interview. Also, they had the opportunity to ask questions to Mrs. Martinez to get a better idea of what they should do during an interview and this way, they are not left with any questions. Most students tend to worry about the interview process.
The major goal of this workshop was providing information to students with a general idea of what they expect when they applied for any job during holiday's season.
The workshop "Money for the Holidays" was a successful event and at the same time, it represented a big opportunity for TAMIU students, and now they know what to do and what to expect when they are looking for a job during the holiday's season.
