The Dream-Like Circus

Imagine costumed acrobats thrown into mid-air with flexible Russian bars, each bar measuring from two to six inches in width, while being sustained on the shoulders of two men. The acrobats land on those bars after a set of front and back flips, with perfect timing and balance. Just when you think you have seen it all, the Cirque Du Soleil makes you realize that you haven't seen anything yet.

Alegria is one of many shows of Cirque Du Soleil, but it is considered the finest one. The show lasted around two hours and contained nine startling acts, from the beautiful Mongolian contortionists to the two artists weaving fire knives around their entire body. The show is not only known for its acrobats, but also its extraordinary music. 

 Alegria, which translates to "joy" in Spanish, is not just the name of the show. It is the state of mind in which the performers want you to have before you leave their show. Therefore, that state of mind wouldn't be possible without the help of two clowns. These two philosophers of foolishness, with their acts of silliness and humor, gave the show the meaning of Alegria and beyond.

The costumes of Alegria make this show appear as a vivid and lucid dream were imagination has no limits or boundaries. According to the creators, the costumes varied from the nostalgic flamboyant old birds who gave an appearance of deformity, to the enchanting young nymph covered with blue long feathers.

Alegria is a unique show filled with magic, humor, exquisite music and unimaginable death daring acts of  acrobatics. Without any doubt, this show is one of a kind if not the only one of its kind.
