Mix and Mingle
On Thursday, Oct. 21, the Texas A&M International University Association of International Students hosted M&M: Mix and Mingle at the Residential Learning Community poolside.
The mixer, which commenced around 10:00 p.m., was open for all TAMIU students. The purpose of the event was to acknowledge the diversity found among students. There were various TAMIU organizations that collaborated with AIS including Student Government Association's International Committee, Office of Student Affairs, Campus Activities Board, CAMPOS and Delta Psi Alpha.
Those in attendance enjoyed a night of games, prizes and food. Among the activities scheduled included various competitions such as the best "Waka Waka" imitation, Human Bingo, Trivia, and even a Bachata dance competition. The prizes distributed to the winners included Best Buy and Starbucks gift cards. Students also had the opportunity to meet foreign exchange students who came to study at TAMIU for the semester or year.
The Bridge had the opportunity to chat with Jose Santos, Vice President of AIS, who expressed, "We had a great turnout. M&M night proved that there is a high demand for different activities. And you can believe that AIS will be planning more events to interact with all our TAMIU students." Santos continued, "AIS promotes cultural awareness and establishes international relationships throughout the student body through a wide variety of events."
The Mix and Mingle ultimately provided students with the occasion to learn more about diversity.
