On Saturday Dec. 4, 2010, the Texas A&M International University Students in Free Enterprise (S.I.F.E.) hosted The Bazaar. The event, which raised fine arts awareness, was held at the Vamp Ultra Lounge & Café parking lot from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Bazaar is one of the numerous projects S.I.F.E. has developed throughout the academic year. The Bridge had the opportunity to chat with Holly Herrera, Vice President of S.I.F.E. who expressed, “S.I.F.E. develops projects that are supposed to benefit the people, planet, and profit.”
The purpose of this project was to reach out to artists as well as local business such as VAMP, which offered its parking lot for the event.
Throughout the event, local artists had the opportunity to showcase or sell their artwork and crafts. The artwork displayed, by local artists, included an array of photography and paintings. As for crafts, those featured included a variety of headbands, baby bibs, and bow ties.
Herrera also mentioned, “S.I.F.E measures the success of projects likes these, and then we go and compete in March to show what we are doing to help the community”. S.I.F.E. plans to host additional Bazaars in the community.
