Relax! It's Just Finals!
It's that time of the semester again! Finals have approached us rapidly with the universities examination period starting May 8-14, 2014. Many students constantly stress over finals and often forget to take time to relax. I visited Student Health Services on campus for a doctor's appointment, and while I was there a student was rushed in for a panic attack due to stress from finals. It's crucial for us students not to feel overwhelmed during these stressful times. There are plenty of resources on campus and things one can do to relax and unwind before and during finals. I spoke with two undergraduate students who gave me the scoop on what they to do relax.
Priscilla Lineros is a junior majoring in bilingual education with a concentration in early childhood through sixth grade. Lineros is currently taking five classes as well as block one. When it comes to relaxing tips during finals Lineros stated the following, " Well last semester I know I went to get a manicure and pedicure, sometimes it's good to go get a massage at Studio 55, I also go to the Student Counseling Center where they listen to what I have to say." Every student has their own specific way to unwind during finals. Senior dustdevil Thania Rios who's currently taking four classes. Rios is majoring in bilingual education and has an interesting way to say the least when it comes to relaxing during finals. " A couple of friends and I just go out to have some refreshments and talk about other stuff to forget about school." Rios also visits the Student Counseling Center where she speaks to her counselor to stay focused on her road to finishing school and getting through finals.
Each one of us has our way of coping during finals and all have our own rituals to get us through. Keep in mind Student Counseling and Disability Services is located at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Success Center Rm 138. The hours of operation are:
Monday & Tuesday 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m
Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
We want to hear from you Dustdevils! Tell us how you relax before or during finals. Share your thoughts! Goodluck to everyone on their finals.
