To my bored friends.  New things are in development for us restless souls in the desert and that is a new revival of live entertainment.  Are you tired of the same death metal hardcore shows that have been going on for the past 20 or so odd years?  Don't get me wrong, I have always appreciated the old and new scene of metal and hardcore out here but enough is enough.  This playlist needs to be changed and that is precisely what is happening.  For those of you waiting to hear and experience the romantic big city style night life, discovering your own little musical gem then wait no more.  B. Live Promotions is here to save us giving us according to Fernando Montemayor, promoter for B Live Promotions "The Best Party in Town".  Here's a heads up on what's going down October.

Saturday Oct 9th Those Darlings/special guest Shapes Have Fangs

Shapes Have Fangs- Listening to Shapes Have Fangs might bring back flashbacks of the British invasion of the early '60s. Yet this Austin-based quartet -- brothers Skyler and Evan McGlothlin, Dustin Coffey and Josh Willis -- doesn't appear to have any DNA in common with the Queen Mother. Spinner recently caught up with the band, who talked about their music and their upcoming SXSW appearance. (http://www.spinner.com/2010/03/16/shapes-have-fangs-interview-sxsw-2010/)

Those Darlins- Those Darlins are a garage country band from Murfreesboro, TN. The band went live in 2006 and attracted immediate attention for their rowdy, cheerfully sarcastic, and sometimes boozed-fueled show, and for their unique interplay of distinct personalities. Those Darlins' curious mix of classic country and ragged garage rock makes them one of a kind, eliciting comparisons like, "The Carter Family meets The Black Lips." In 2009, the band toured feverishly, playing 140 shows and sharing the stage with the likes of Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys), Deer Tick, King Khan & BBQ Show, Wanda Jackson, and Jon Spencer. They made huge waves at SXSW, Bonnaroo, and Garage Fest. (http://www.facebook.com/thosedarlins#!/thosedarlins?v=info)

Tickets for the shows are $10 and can be purchased at Old No.2 or online at www.blivepromotions.com

Tuesday Oct 12 - Soft Pack/with special guest Automatic Weekend

Automatic Weekend - Automatic Weekend is a garage trio from our very own Laredo, Texas.  They recently snatched up two Sledge TV Awards for Best Song category for their song "Heartbreaker" and the Best New Band category.  The band hopes to establish themselves as a "homegrown" group rooted in their raw garageish/bluish sound.  Since appearing in the Laredo night scene summer of 2010, Automatic Weekend is now in the process of recording their first full length album to be released in late 2010.

Soft Pack - This band hails from San Diego and their west coast influences can definitely be heard in their music.  The best way to classify their music is punk with California soul.  They have appeared on David Letterman, played Lollapalooza, SXSW and will be playing ACL this year.  (Fernando Montemayor – B Live Promotions)

This show will be a free show as a thank you to all the fans of B Live Promotions and indie music.

Thursday Oct 14 - Deer Tick/guest J Roddy Walston and the Business

J Roddy Walston and the Business - The best way to describe this band is AC/DC fronted by Jerry Lee Lewis.  The lead singer wails away on the piano while the band delivers big riffs to accompany J Roddy Walston's raspy voice which many have compared to Caleb Followill from Kings of Leon.  The band is rooted in Nashville, Tennessee. (Fernando Montemayor – B Live Promotions)

Deer Tick - Deer Tick come to us from Providence, RI and are lead by John McCauley on vocals.  Their sound is like a buffet which includes the likings of rock, country, and punk served hot and fresh.  They are known for their live show antics usually consisting of a 2 hour set guaranteed to entertain.  Laredo is part of Deer Tick's official tour playing only 3 venues in Texas - House of Blues in Houston, Emo's in Austin, and Old No. 2 in Laredo.

Tickets for the shows are $10 and can be purchased at Old No.2 or online at www.blivepromotions.com
