Tik Tok(ing) Opportunities

(Editor's note: The Tik Tok title is homage to a catchy, even if trashy, song.)
As spring break peaks around the corner, I find myself immersed in the current season of Lost, the importance of voting and just imagining a week without mounting paperwork and reckless on-campus drivers.

The more important issue, of course, being the latter. After flipping back to a 2007 issue of Editorís Corner, in an attempt to find inspiration for this column, I was surprised to come across what had been rocking the university at the time.

According to the editor, three years ago, in the duration of a single semester, the university community witnessed two accidents and one fatal. Fast forward to 2010 and in one alone month we witnessed two accidents and one auto-pedestrian.

To echo Peter Villaneuvaís sentiments, why hasn't a campaign been set up to curb this? How many of you feel safe driving or even walking around campus? As drivers speed carelessly over crosswalks (where there are any), pedestrian right-a-way might as well be a foreign concept.

In short, I'd like to extend an invitation to all our readers. Regardless the issue, sometimes to see change you have to speak up or shut up and the clock is ticking. Which will you do?

I'm all ears.
