World Series Game 4
27 outs away from being World Series champions, the San Francisco Giants sent their ace Matt Cain as starter, while the Tigers had Max Scherzer on the mound. The Giants got on the board quickly as Brandon Belt hit an RBI triple that scored Hunter Pence in the top of the 2nd inning to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers' offense showed life in the bottom of the 3rd as Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer off Cain, which gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead. On the top of the 6th inning with a man aboard, Giants' catcher Buster Posey hit a two-run homer that put the Giants on top 3-2. The Tigers' quickly answered in their bottom half of the inning as Delmon Young hit an opposite field homer that tied the game at 3-3. Nine innings were not enough as the game went into extra innings.
In the top of the 10th inning, Giants' second basemen Marco Scutaro came through in the clutch as he hit what ended up being the game winning two-out single that scored Ryan Theriot. Closer Sergio Romo came into the game in the bottom of the 10th to finish the game. With two outs Romo faced off against Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera. Romo would get Cabrera to strike out looking.
With the win, the Giants sweep the Tigers in dominant fashion as they proved to be the better team both defensively and offensively. This would be the Giants' second World Series championship in the last 3 years. Stellar pitching and defense helped the Giants win the title. Pablo Sandoval would be named the 2012 World Series MVP. Congratulations to the 2012 World Series champions, San Francisco Giants.
