Upcoming CAB Pep Rally
The Spring Semester has begun at Texas A&M International University and students are waiting for the upcoming school events hosted by the Campus Activities Board. The first event of the spring semester 2012 is the 2nd Annual Pep-Rally which will be held at the Student Center Patio on Wednesday, February 1nd 2011, which is the third day of Spirit Week.
Last year TAMIU and CAB had their inaugural pep-rally in order to promote school spirit within the campus. They are aiming towards the TAMIU and Laredo community to get involved and attend the Athletic events due to the recent success of the Athletic's Department.
CAB's events are monitored and structured by Event Chairs. This events chair is Gerardo "Jerry" Fernandez and he stated "This year we have plenty of games for the students to participate and get excited for Saturday game. TAMIU students are not as involved with the athletic events and hopes to change that with this coming event."
The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will finish around 2:30 p.m. CAB intends to showcase all the TAMIU athletes, inform the students how well they perform, and the positive affect they have to the university.
In the pep-rally students will be welcomed with Games such as Chubby Bunny, Potato Sack Race, an Egg Relay Race and many more. Every organization on campus is welcomed to participate in a spirit competition and will be awarded the schools Sprit Stick at 1:00 PM. This is the first time at TAMIU where the Sprit Stick Award is introduced. Organizations are encouraged to showcase their school pride by wearing the schools colors, chanting, and bringing banners.
Campus Activities Board's next event will be Bongo Mania time and date has not been decided, where students will be in a battlefield like area armed with Nerf Guns. It will be the first event of its kind here on campus which promises to be a fun stress reliever for all the students.
