The International Office held a welcome back photo exhibit in order to allow returning TAMIU exchange students an opportunity to share their stories with students, faculty, and administrators.
A variety of TAMIU students attended the photo exhibit fair at Casa Ortiz to showcase their international adventures.
Casa Ortiz hosted the event by opening its scenic downtown location. The decorations included an arrangement of drinks and finger food that the public was more than welcome to enjoy. Lining up the walls and garden were the photographs of several returning students. This allowed people in attendance a glimpse into the student’s experiences.
Jannet Garcia explains the process in which the photographs were selected.
“When students returned from their exchange program an e mail was sent out to them explaining the details of the event. We had each student submit three to six photos which later the staff and I took and made into poster size for the public to have a better view,” Garcia said.
One student describes how the photographs displayed the beauty of each country.
“It was great that the photographs were displayed in poster size and each of us was given credit for our participation. People would ask about our experience and we sparked their curiosity to explore more about each country, ” David Chapa, returning exchange student says.
