Pre-Dental Society Taco Sale
Laredo's 100-degree heat did not stop the Pre-Dental Society from hosting their fundraising taco sale event at Texas A&M International University grounds on Sept. 15, 2010. The association set up a stand in front of Killam Library from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. The stand was surrounded by members of the organization advertising their tacos announcing, "Help us out!" or "Get your tacos!" Christopher Gonzales, President of The Pre Dental Society, stated that the fundraising event was held to raise funds for the organization.
"We are raising funds so that we can do things like hire dental tutors and take trips to dental schools like in Houston and Dallas," stated Gonzalez.
The students from the organization had the benefit of having an insight view on how fundraisers and working as a team is about stated Gonzalez. Professors had the privilege of having their tacos personally delivered to their office by one of the members during their lunch hour break.
Members were rapidly attracting their customers with their great enthusiasm to raise their $300 - $600 goal range. The tacos were provided by combos, which included two tacos and a beverage. The price of one taco cost $2.50.
The variety of the tacos included chicken, pastor, and brisket, provided by Taco Villa, and for the refreshments; there was Coca Cola, water, and Sprite, complimentary of the Pre-Dental Society members. Along with the refreshments and the tacos, napkins and green salsa were provided for the students and professors to include more flavor and satisfaction to their meal.
