COBA Holds Master Hooding and Honor Cord Ceremony
Texas A&M International University A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business held their Hooding and Honor Cord Ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2011. Students who receive an honor cord graduate either Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Summa Cum Laude depending on their respective grade point averages. The program began with introductory remarks by Dr. Steve Sears, Dean of the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. Following Dr. Sears speech were congratulatory remarks by Dr. Pablo Arenaz, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Selection Criteria of Undergraduate Honor Cord Recipients was then noted by Dr. Sears following the presentation of the Honor Cords by both Dr. Sears and Ms. Maggie Blasco, Undergraduate Advisor.
Honor Cord Cum Laude recipients: Hedei Luann Arias, Cecilia Cabrera, Humberto A. Cortez, Nelson Jose Figueroa, Delissa Ariana Flores, Christina L. Garcia, Ivette Lopez, Ariadne C. Marquez, Claudia Y. Olivares, and Ovidio Rene Narvaez Rodriguez.
Honor Cord Magna Cum Laude recipients: David Alejandro Chapa.
Honor Cord Summa Cum Laude recipients: Alejandra Avila and Doreen Hanke.
Dr. Deborah Blackwell, University Honors Program director then presented the University honor program graduates, which included: Alejandra Avila, David Alejandro Chapa, and Delissa Ariana Flores.
The significance of the graduate hood was then discussed by Dr. Sears immediately following the graduate hoodings by Dr. Ken Hung, Chair of the Division of International Banking and Finance Studies; Dr. S. Srinivasan, Chair of the Division of International Business and Technology Studies; and Ms, Imelda Lopez, Graduate Advisor. Readers during the graduate hooding included Ms. Imelda Lopez; Dr. Kimber Palmer, Instructor and Director of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business; and Dr. Andres Rivas, Assistant Professor of Business.
Those who received a Master of Business Administration: Carlos Bella Jr, Hector Miguel Cantu, Liliana Patricia Castillo Borrego, Lesly Elizabeth Cedillo, Xochitl Chavez Govea, Spencer Jamal Foreman, Macros Enrique Garcia Bernal, Pedro Luis Garcia Salas, Baldemar Garza Rodriguez, Anissa Yvonne Gonzales, Nancy Gonzalez-Romero, Amanda Leigh Gutierrez, Javier Guzman, Sylvia Melissa Hinojosa, Daniel Rory King, Arshad N. Madhani, Christy Lynn Martinez, Glafiro Eusebio Montemayor, Pedro Munoz Jr., Amelia Palacios, Monica Gabriela Partida Flores, Martin Arturo Ramirez, Roberto Anthony Ramirez, Araceli Magdalena Ramos, Juan Angel Riojas Garcia, Veronica Rodriguez, Francisco Emmanuel Ruiz, Juan Diego Serna Torres, Luis Carlos Soto, and Manuel Vela III.
Those who received Master of Business Administration in International Banking: Pedro Munoz Jr.
Those who received a Master of Business Administration in International Trade: Ana Laura De La Garza, Carlos R. Flores, Gloria Annalie Miravete, and Carlos Marcelo Martinez.
Those who received a Master of Professional Accounting: Mitzi Edelia Bella, David Cuellar, Rocio Gutierrez, Jose L. Ramirez, Sergio G. Ramirez, and Rosalinda Vasquez.
Those who received a Master of Science in Information Systems: Venkatesh Reddy Akkuluri, Rama Lakshmi Kolusu, Jayadev Maradana, Nandit Reddy Nallavelli, Julio Cesar Pena Jr., Vinay Kumar Pinnamaneni, Abhilash Puppala, and Ananad Ram Puppala.
Dr. Sears ended the program with the closing remarks. Honorary guests for the program included: Dr. Juan Lira, Associate Provost and Interim Dean of the College of Education; Ms. Mary Trevino, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Jeffrey M. Brown, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Thomas R. Mitchell, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Regina C. Aune, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Mr. David E. VerMilyea, Associate Director of International Student Services, and A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Faculty.
A reception was provided for attendees with music by Isreal Joseph, Victor Verdia, and Dr. Susan Berdahl, Associate Professor of Music.
