Nursing Survey to Be Conducted

Special to The Bridge

By Rosemary Plank
On September 7, 2010

Students between the ages of 18 and 25 are invited to participate in a health and wellness survey conducted by primary investigator, Dr. Rosemary Plank, director of the Prof Center and associate professor of Nursing. Students in Dr. Plank's nursing course are currently studying Young Adult Health and Wellness where they are focusing on the university population of young adults.

The survey is found online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/H3BX9NN. This survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. Information from the survey will be collected, compared, categorized then analyzed with GPA's to provide a picture of health and wellness perceptions on campus and potential relationships to GPA.

The survey is divided into two parts, wellness perception and demographic information with nine health questions. The survey will take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete.

Research was approved by Texas A&M International University IRB Committee. These articles will be "peer-reviewed" by nurses for accuracy of information.

Data will be used by students in NURS 4299 to write newspaper articles for The Bridge, based upon the collected data.
