Ms. TAMIU Candidate: Guadalupe "Lupita" Osoria
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." In my journey in Texas A&M International University I have learned to dream big, accomplish goals, and learn new things from those who surround me. TAMIU has opened doors to a better future.TAMIU has become my second home.
I have had the opportunity to work with great people in TAMIU. The Office of Student Affairs gave me the first opportunity to become part of a great working environment. With them I learned the meaning of responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of respecting one another. Working in TAMIU has been one of the steps that has brought me to where I stand as as a student and an employee today.
After this great opportunity, I was welcomed to a group of overachieving and successful students willing to guide and advise peers. As a student mentor I have become a strong pillar to incomming freshmen and serve them as a role model and a friend. I feel that this job has shaped me as a person and as a future professional. This experience has prepared me for what is to come later on in life. In my opinion, a student mentor learns when teaching. Each one of the situtations I am presented to has taught me a lesson that I am sure will fortify and build up my knowledge for the future.
During this past summer, I fullfilled one of my greatest ambitions. TAMIU helped make my dream a reality. Along with twelve other successful young ladies, I studied abroad to Madrid,Spain for a summer session. The time I spent over seas completely changed my perspective of life and what life has to offer. Having the opportunity to be part of this great opportunity many universities offer, has definetely marked my life in the best way possible.
As a communication disorders major, my trip abroad helped me discover what route my career will follow. I plan to pursue a masters degree in Communication Disorders with a concentration in Special Education. My passion for this specific field has followed me for a long time now and will prepare me to help the less fortunate.
As Ms. TAMIU, I plan to represent the student body with pride and charisma. This opportunity will let me learn from the university who has granted me numerous amounts of learning experiences. I thank God for all of the blessings I receive, my parents who have been by my side, and my friends and peers who believe in me.
