Around the world
If you like to travel around the world or have done it before, it is time to exhibit your story. On Wednesday Nov. 14, Study Abroad and International students from Texas A&M International University exhibited their scholastic experiences at the Student Center Rotunda from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The exhibits were free and open to the public.
As stories of current and past study abroad students were told through photos, visitors were able to vote for their favorite photograph. The winner will be obtaining a price. One of the prices that all alumni is getting is exhibiting their photography work and being able to motivate others to study abroad. Those TAMIU students who went and studied abroad had the opportunity to display their life experience and show the current alumni what they may learn in other parts of the world. In this photo exhibit, the International students had the opportunity to show their experience in Laredo. Why not? Since they are completing their studies in another part of the world that is not home, is it considered as if they were studying abroad.
The submission of a photograph is not mandatory, but for those who had to complete study abroad service hours due to the fact that they received scholarship, were receiving a total of one hour per submission. These photos also help all those who are interested, but do not really know what study abroad is about. Triana Gonzalez, Associate Director of Study Abroad and Associate programs stated, "Have helped inspire other student to maybe go abroad, to want to know what is out there." The photographs portray what places you may visit, what you can learn, and how will the adventure be. France, Spain, England, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Korea, Japan, China, Finland, are the most popular countries being visited by TAMIU students.
