Women's Soccer Drops Double Overtime Heartbreaker
Dustdevils Lose Fifth Straight
Odessa, Texas - Three goals were not enough for the Texas A&M International University Women's Soccer Team, as the Dustdevils fell in double overtime to U.T. Permian Basin Friday night 4-3.
After starting out to a 2-0 lead, thanks to an own goal by UTPB and a rocket off the foot of Alyssa Flores, TAMIU allowed three consecutive goals giving the Falcons a 3-2 advantage. In the 83rd minute Jessica Garcia was able to equalize with a brilliant strike from 40 yards out, forcing the game into overtime. In the 111th minute, Kourtnye Chandler tallied the golden goal, rifling a shot past TAMIU keeper Noemy Salazar from just outside the box.
The Dustdevils slip to 2-10-1 overall, 1-4 in conference play. They have one game remaining on their road trip traveling to Wichita, Kansas October 23rd to battle Newman University, before returning home to battle Dallas Baptist October 27th.
