Bookstore extensive lines
The first week of school is always hectic for students. There's the issue of adjusting to classes, the schedule, getting your supplies organized, and of course, the purchase of the books. As many of our fellow Dustdevils have noticed, there was an outstretched amount of students returning and purchasing their books during the first week of classes. The line was massive, overflowed with students complaining about the long line and being late for class. Now, the bookstore is calm, but what can we students expect this coming December when the due date of the books comes along? How you can steer clear of the long line at the bookstore the following semester?
The creation of the new Student Success Center provided us students with a well-improved bookstore that not only has a total of five register areas, but a variety of Texas A&M International products for us school spirited individuals. The store also includes a variety of reading material and a well-improved alternative of renting books.
I spoke to a salesperson at the TAMIU bookstore and he provided a few tips for students who want faster customer service at the register area. Here are a few tips to get through those immense lines.
- Don't procrastinate. The bookstore is open in the summer, and students who purchase their books in the summer have a higher chance of claiming a used or renting a book.
- Don't come an hour before class. The lines are very long and customer service has to been done 100%. Students who are going to buy/return a book should come during an extended break or at the end of their classes to avoid fighting time.
- Be prepared. Students should have their items prepared at the register area for a quicker transaction. Avoid getting last minute items or not having your credit card on hand.
- Be patient. The salespeople are working as fast as they can to provide you the best customer service. Ask a salesperson for information on purchasing and returns before attending the line, chances are you may avoid yourself a trip.
In conclusion, this semester, the bookstore granted the students the opportunity to extend their business hours and to offer their services during the weekend, but as of now, the bookstore continues to go back to their regular hours of Monday-Thursday 8 a.m to 6 p.m, and Friday 8 a.m to 1 p.m
