The Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library at Texas A&M International University strives to provide the best possible resources to the TAMIU community. In spring of 2012, Killam Library introduced two services intended to make a student's life much easier.  One new service is that students can now reserve a study room online.  Another new service offered to TAMIU students, is the selling of testing supplies in the library. Previously, students could only purchase testing supplies at the TAMIU bookstore.  Life as a college student is difficult enough, these new services should make life a bit easier for students.

Killam Library is currently "pilot testing" software that will now allow students to "book a study room online," stated a tweet sent out by TAMIU. What the software does is that it allows students to reserve a study room from the comfort of their own home.  All that a student has to do to reserve the study room is to go the website and reserve the date and time desired.  The process to reserve a study room is simple and is made easier by the chart that has the available dates and times.  This chart lets the student see what rooms are available on a certain date at a certain time.  If the color of the bar under the time and date is green, then the study room is available.  If the study room is already booked, then the color of the bar will be the color blue.  The study rooms are usually used by a group of students wanting work together to do their assignments and to study for tests.

The sale of testing supplies is another resource that Killam Library is now offering.  Killam Library is maintaining a "limited supply of materials" and are being sold for only "50 cents," according to TAMIU's UConnect announcements.  Testing supplies being sold include Scantron sheets and blue/green books.  There are times that students forget to buy their testing supplies before the bookstore closes, therefore get stressed because they won't know what they are going to do.  Now that Killam Library is selling testing supplies, all that a student has to do is go to the library's front desk and buy whatever it is that they need.  As sophomore undergraduate, Marcela Villarreal stated, "classes are closer to the library than to TAMIU's University Success Center."  With Killam Library selling testing supplies, a students is able to quickly have access to their needs.

The two examples used above shows few of the ways that Killam Library is trying to accommodate to the needs of TAMIU students.  Students can now easily reserve a study room online to prepare themselves and then after that go buy the testing supply they need for the test they just studied for.  The website that is for the study room bookings is www.tamiu.libcal.com/booking/4floor. To purchase testing supplies please visit Killam Library's front desk.
