A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Hooding and Honor Cord Ceremony
On December 16, 2011 the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business held its Hooding and Honor Cord Ceremony. The event took place at Texas A&M International University's Fine and Performing Arts Center's Concert Theater. A total of 100 students were recognized at the event, 8 of which were undergraduates, and 92 of which were graduate students.
The event began with a procession of professors followed by the graduates of the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The music for the procession was performed by Daniel Arambula, Justin Balli, Juan Pena, and Amanda Rodriguez. After the procession, the Dean of A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, Dr. Steve Sears gave an introductory speech welcoming everyone to the ceremony. Congratulatory remarks were also spoken by Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Pablo Arenaz.
The ceremony continued with an explanation of the criteria students needed to meet in order to receive their Honors Cords during which Dean Sears spoke of the significance of Graduate Hooding. When done speaking the ceremony continued with the presentation of the Graduates Hooding followed by the awarding of the Honors Cords to the Undergraduate students. The Honor Cords were presented by Dean Sears, Associate Dean Dr Antonio J. Rodriguez, and Undergraduate Advisor Ms. Maggi Blasco.
Graduate students were presented with their Hoods by Chair Division of International Banking and Finance Studies, Dr. Ken Hung; Chair Division of International Business and Technology Studies, Dr. S. Srinivasan and Graduate Advisor Ms. Imelda Lopez. During the presentation speakers read some thankful written words by Graduate students, as they were presented with their hoods. Speakers included Dr. Jorge Brusa, Dr. Robert Evans, Dr. Jyotsna Mukherji, and Dr. Andres Rivas.
Honorary guest at the ceremony included Vice President for Student Success Dr. Minita Ramirez, Dean (College of Nursing & Health Science) Dr. Regina C. Aune, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Dr. Jeffrey M. Brown, Regents Professor/Associate Provost Dr. Juan Lira, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Ms. Mary T. Trevino, Dean (College of Education) Dr. Catheryn J. Weitman, Associate Director of International Student Services Mr. David E. VerMilyea and the A. R. Sanchez Jr. School of Business Faculty. After the presentation of the Honor Cords and the Graduate Hooding, Dean Sears gave some closing remarks. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the lobby of the Texas A & M International University's Fine and Performing Arts Center. During which students, family, and friends were able to take pictures with the graduates, while provided with refreshments.
Texas A & M International University and The Bridge would like to congratulate the students who were corded and hooded as well as the graduating of 2011.
