Stand Under My Umbrella...
If the cool and crisp nightly breeze is an indicator of anything is that the seasons are changing, and autumn is quickly approaching. Along with the seasonal change comes a drastic change in weather. In the past week, Laredo has experienced an extensive amount of rainfall. While most of our gardens are in need of a little rain, the rainfall can prove to be quite inconvenient for unsuspecting students and faculty, who failed to grab an umbrella in the morning on their way out.
Logically if it is raining most of us seek shelter until the rainfall seizes. Although college life equals no spare time for any unplanned activities, what happens when our busy schedules simply do not permit us to wait until the rainfall stops?
Several individuals can frequently be seen darting from one building to the next in hopes of making it on time for class or some other appointment, in spite of the rain. More often than not, these individuals can be seen attempting to seek some refuge under a book or spiral notebook as they scurry to their destination.
Of course students can always visit the bookstore, located in the University Success building, to purchase an umbrella. That is if you can afford to spend approximately $10 on a cheap quality umbrella from a store located in a building that is the furthest away from any of the other buildings, in which most classes take place. Not only is the price an inconvenience to most but by the time one makes it to the bookstore they will be completely drenched depending on the intensity of the rain. I feel that reasonably priced umbrellas should also be sold at perhaps the library, which is centrally located on campus. This way we can ensure that a little rainfall does not disrupt our already hectic days.
