Heartwarming Honor Cord and Hooding Ceremony
Among faculty, administration, friends and family, the most distinguished students of the College of Education were hooded, or received their honor cords, symbolizing their hard work throughout their undergraduate or graduate programs. The event, celebrated on Friday, May 14th, before commencement, was held in the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.
Students graduating from their undergraduate degrees received their honor cord for Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude from the hand of the Dean of the College of Education, who recognized their outstanding achievement in his initial speech.
Dr. Blackwell, director of the TAMIU Honors Program, gave away the medals that recognized the Honors students as part of the renowned program in campus.
Graduate students were hooded by the Dean while a personal statement was read, a heartwarming moment. Students thanked their professors, their parents, spouses, children and God among tears of joy and cheers by proud families of the graduates.
The ceremony concluded among hugs, tears and happy graduates, ready for the commencement ceremony, which took place an hour after the Honor Cord and Hooding Ceremony. The College provided light refreshments in the lobby of the Recital Hall, where many families and students congregated to celebrate their achievement and take photos with family and faculty.
