Would you like to know how different types of films are made? Marcela Moran and her video production students invite the audience every semester to present their film productions, which is part of their final grade project. The event will be held on May 13 at 5 p.m. in the Texas A&M international University Student Center Theater 236 and is free and open to the public.

Throughout the semester, students start preparing for this project as part of their final examination. They start creating ideas and let their imagination fly to produce various types of films such as experimental, documentaries, mockumentaries, and more. In the pre-production process, either individually or in group, the students present their treatment to the class, this way the best ideas are shared and selected.

After the groups are made, each member is selected to be either the producer, editor, script writer, sound editor, and more, which are terminologies that they learn to manage in the first video production class. During the location scouting and cast auditions, the members find places and people that might lead them to a different Laredo. These students in the process of creating the final films learn various film techniques and about other producers and directors. Along the semester they do not only concentrate on this final production, but they also create two other  films. They are not only receiving lecture, but they are obtaining knowledge on Final Cut Pro, the program used in post-production.

Living the experience of a real film production is what is very helpful in this course. With the use of one camera and one microphone, the production team creates exciting documentaries, really funny comedies, and experimental videos. You can meet the artists the day of the event and hear about the process they went through to create their films. The public will see the final product followed by a Q&A session where the audience will be able to ask the production crew anything about the film.
