Como cada año los estudiantes de Texas A&M International University esperan ansiosamente a la llegada del mes de octubre ya que el tan esperado festival estudiantil, AutMus Fest, se llevó a cabo el pasado sábado 6 de octubre, en los terrenos de la universidad, siendo esta su octava edición anual. El evento fue organizado por la asociación de ex-alumnos de la universidad, con el propósito de recaudar fondos destinados para becas estudiantiles.
El festival inició alrededor de las cinco de la tarde con la presentación de algunos luchadores de Laredo Wrestling Alliance. Mientras tanto, la venta de artesanÃas, tatuajes de henna, juegos inflables y la gran variedad de comida y bebidas formaron parte importante del festival para el gusto del público. Posteriormente, la primera banda de la noche hizo acto de presencia en el escenario musical.
Como cada año, reconocidas bandas nacionales e internacionales se presentaron para deleitar a una audiencia muy variada que abarcaba desde niños hasta adultos. En la octava edición del AutMus Fest, se presentaron Automatic Weekend, Vankuver, Master Blaster Sound System, Dean Seltzer, The Romantics y P.O.D. Los presentes lograron disfrutar de ritmos como electro-cumbia, country, pop-rock y metal, los cuales se escucharon durante el festival.
The Romantics y P.O.D. cerraron el festival con broche de oro, ya que su energÃa exuberante hizo que el público brincara y coreara sus canciones como, "What I Like About You" y "Alive", respectivamente. Tal fue la buena respuesta de los laredenses a la presentación de P.O.D., que la agrupación se volverá a presentar como invitados especiales en Laredo el próximo 21 de noviembre en el Laredo Energy Arena junto a las agrupaciones de rock 3 Doors Down y Daughtry.
El AutMus Fest concluyó cerca de la medianoche con gran éxito de asistencia y participación de voluntarios que hicieron del evento una noche inolvidable para los asistentes. La novena edición de este festival será el próximo 5 de octubre del 2013.
