College Night
On Wednesday, October 27, Texas A&M International University held their annual College Night at the Student Center Ballroom. The event was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m, but students and parents were already gathered before at the Student Center.
College Night is a way for juniors and seniors from high school to gather together and have the opportunity to analyze what each university in Texas has to offer. Among these offerings include housing, academic programs, and financial aid. The event has been hosted at TAMIU ever since the Student Center opened its doors back in 2002.
"It is the first and only time during the year that the students in Laredo get the opportunity to see that many universities, colleges, and institutions here in the city,¨ stated Juan Gilberto Garcia Jr., Director of Office Recruitment and School Relations.
Various high schools along with their counselors held several event sign in sheet for their students. Some high schools, such as United High School, Alexander High, and United South were raffling away scholarships as an initiative to have their students attend the event.
