Mid- Semester Break
Texas A&M International University gave students their first break, after facing a stressful midterm exam week. The break started Thursday, October 20, 2011 resuming classes on Monday October 24, 2011. This break gave some students a chance to rest from the hustle of school, spend time with family or finish homework.
For some students, this semester break was a stress reliever, it gave them the opportunity to rest their head from all the reading and studying from midterm exams. Like Erik Rodriguez, TAMIU student said, "I feel that the mid-semester break was much needed for a lot of students. Especially those who spend a lot of their time on campus or studying." Midterm exams may have caused a very stressing time in some of the students since they have to spend their time studying and preparing for their exams. This break gave students a literal break, "I was able to catch up with some really needed sleep", student Juan Perez stated.
Having a couple of days was not enough for some of the students, because instead of helping them it gave them more things to worry about. Student Prisma Alvarado was one of these students. She was given extra work for the midterm break; Alvarado stated, "I was given a take-home midterm that I was given to work on all weekend and it wasn't to my convenience. This was supposed to be a break."
While some students spent their time resting taking time to relax and be away from school activities or working out others had extra homework to worry about. Every student had a different impact with the semester break some having one worded phrases like, "Blessing!!!" while others said "Inconvenient!"
