New Traditions for Athletes
On May 14, 2011 at the Texas A&M International University graduation ceremony a new tradition will be put into effect for the TAMIU athletes. Athletes will be recognized for their large amount of time and effort put into each sport during the graduation ceremony. Athletes will be wearing the new logo on their sash to distinguish themselves from all other graduates.
Patches of the new athletic logo will be given to the graduating athletes to embroider on their sash. The circle logo has "TEXAS" written along the top, inner part of the circle in white capital letters. In the center of the circle "A&M" is written in cursive. The letters are in white outlined in maroon and again outlined in black. Behind the "A&M", the letter "I" for International is colored grey and twice the size of the "A&M". The "I" is also outlined with maroon and then outlined again in black. The inner circle of the patch has a maroon background with a black outlining of the circle.
Each athlete invests 10 – 20 hours a week of practice, attends home and away games, completes a specific amount of community service and maintains a minimum grade point average. Upon all these requirements some athletes must also complete study hours and/or fulfill their involvement with other campus organizations. Proof of hard work and well deserved recognition for these individuals participation in TAMIU's intercollegiate athletics department lies with within the accomplishments of these athletes as a team and individually.
